(15,879 posts)More difficult would be replicating Ian Gillan's vocals on Child In Time. Might be able to hit the high notes, but not the beauty of the voice that sang Jesus on the LP record of JC Superstar.
Smoke on the Water may be the most iconic Deep Purple riff, but on the Machine Head album my favorite is Lazy. Many people recommend live versions, but I saw DP live in 1973 and still prefer the studio version of Lazy over Made in Japan. Every note is perfect on Machine Head. Unless you're sedated, I challege you to sit still during this blues rock boogie jam.
For Child in Time, check out the live 1970 version -- an incredible performance. But I also love the studio recording on the In Rock album. This song is a rock masterpiece, which has become better known since it was used on the Stranger Things season 5 trailer.
