Jimi Hendrix was, of course, the GOAT...but Mitch is largely forgotten.

Mitch Mitchell is widely considered one of the greatest drummers of all time, on par with (if not better than) John Bonham or Keith Moon…but he had the unfortunate circumstance of playing with, well, Jimi.

Loved the early Hendrix stuff. His other groups were great too, of course. Silent Type Oct 2025 #2

Quite another to see someone do Mitch note for note.

Covering Mitch actually may not be the most impressive thing she's done…

...but, I can't buy "of course, the GOAT".
Too many other great players to just concede that claim.

And Steve Vai, and Jeff Beck, and a lot of others. They could all play circles around Hendrix, a self-taught twentysomething.

None of them, and no other guitarist I can think of, were ever nearly as influential.

One of my earliest influences was Robin Trower.
There'd have been no Trower without Hendtix.
Same with Blackmore.
Those 2 guys, and Jimi, was how I became a Strat guy. I'm nobody important but Jimi influenced me, even though I only like a few of his songs.
Still, I think nobody changed the vocabulary of guitar more than EVH.
And, my favorite player ever is Satriani. But again, no Jimi, no Satch.
