Our first meeting at my new retirement village!

It's been a couple of weeks since we moved in and all was going well smoothly until...

we newbies met in one of the meeting rooms to receive info on variety of subjects. One was WHAT IS/IS NOT RECYCLABLE.

They held up examples of what was recently thrown away IMPROPERLY.

All three items were MINE.

Getting off to a good start here, I guess.

7. In my retirement community, our bottle and can recycling bin has a sign that says "No plastic bags."

The bin is always full of stuff in plastic bags.

Those things are 99.9999% non-recyclable.
Well, so is 93% of all plastic.
That's why I use a reusable grocery bag. And, why I strongly propose a return to paper (like the old milk cartons) for practically every liquid product sold.

10. What Were The Items?

Just curious, because we've got a sticker on our house recycling bin with the "no-nos" spelled out.
People wouldn't make such mistakes if they simply put an appropriate label on the bin.

recycling and I did what I thought was the same. However, where I am living now is in Wallingford, not New Haven, so new rules applied. I did my best...

12. Wine Bottles?

Glass is one of the most efficiently recycled items there is. It takes less energy per unit mass to melt & reuse glass than it does to fuse silica.
This is an odd decision.
