The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI need a drink.
Seriously. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I'm just emotionally exhausted. I want to curl up in a corner and cry.
But I won't; not as long as I have my beloved Loungers.
I hope you will join me for cocktail hour this evening.
I love you all...

(197,538 posts)in months. Hes crumbling. His numbers are abysmal. We had massive wins just a few weeks ago. People just dont like him. The ICE crap is seen by most everyone as horrible and tearing down part of the White House was way over a line people didnt even know they had.
Ill join you though.
MLWR
(1,125 posts)Because there is absolutely NOTHING likeable about him. NOTHING AT ALL.

(2,199 posts)And I know just how you feel. The joy in life is gone for me. I know we are not supposed to discuss politics in The Lounge, so I won't, but I just want to feel safe and yes, happy again.
There are times I want a stiff drink in the middle of the day, so my husband and I only have wine in the house. I'm not going to let present circumstances lead me down that dark path. I pray for happier days. Soon.
See you tonight, friend.
Aristus
(72,663 posts)That's it; you said it: the joy is gone out of our lives. And the hell of it is, that is the goal for these horrible people: to suck all the joy out of life. To make us angry and embittered.
I thought Reagan's "Morning In America" was a load of crap. But at least it was designed to appeal to our national sense of optimism, and the hope of a better tomorrow.
We've lost our vaunted optimism; always one of the better traits in our national character.

(14,307 posts)The stress is constant. Concentration and sleep are hard to achieve. Day after day, week after week, etc., and no end in sight. Trying to hold on to hope and small moments of joy and repeat them to myself like a mantra so I don't forget.
An early cheers to you if I am unable to check in later.

On edit
thoughts that came too late
Its a beautiful sunny day here after a 24 hour period of unnerving heavy mist captured our area
and nothing is going to take that away from me.
I was a very chunky kid and was bullied because of it. Plus being a rural farm kid transplanted to a city environment at the tender age of ten added tinder to the flames. The 50s were not my favorite time.
I utterly refuse to be bullied theses days and that is all trumpig is a bully.

(23,634 posts)that fit in the group.
But there is also a cocktail called Bolt Cutter.
I didn't get a perfect score today.
I have an off-color cocktail joke:
A young lady was being chauffeured back to her college after a weekend at home. On the way, one of the tires went flat. The chauffeur parked the car, and opened the trunk to get the tools and spare to change the tire. However, some of the tools were missing. As the chauffeur stood thinking about the problem, the young lady, unfamiliar with tire-changing, but wanting to be helpful, leaned out the window and asked, "Do you want a screwdriver?"
The chauffeur muttered, "May as well. I can't change the tire."

Aristus
(72,663 posts)Are you all right? Are you in any pain?
PoindexterOglethorpe
(28,493 posts)No pain, but I absolutely must remember that at least for a bit, I need to take it very easy. I'm 77. Heart disease runs in my family, both sides. No cancer. If I'd had to choose, I'd take heart disease over cancer.
I also tend to recover quickly from anything.
