(11,143 posts)At the Highland Games one year, they came and did a 'taste test' where we got to sample most of their line.
Let me tell you, the sixteen men of Tain are the best when it comes to amazing scotch.
I went up to the guy after the thing and I told him, "You know, I always hated Scotch. Today, I learned why."
He looked a bit concerned and asked me what that was. I smiled broadly at him.
"Because I had never had it before!"
(I like the Quinta Ruban the best. I am a big port person anyway.)

(76,706 posts)...I'll think you'll lije it. It's a scotch story.
My wife & I were on vacation in Key West and we stopped at a brew pub. Around 1995.
I had one of the home beers, my wife had a tropical drink and we decided to go elsewhere.
She decides to use the ladies' room and I see a bottle next to the register that I don't recognize.
I ask the bartender what it is and she says Glenmorangie 30 year.
I'm on vacation, so what the heck, I'll have one neat.
She pours from the bottle and it's less that 3/4ths of a shot.
She says "Last in the bottle, less than a full shot. This one is free!"
It was magnificent! So smooth it felt as if I was drinking velvet.
I asked her what this would have cost if it had been a whole ounce. She checks and says "40 bucks". Thus was thirty years ago!
I left her a $10 tip.
