(14,476 posts)are just what I need to perk up my spirits.
This year it will probably have to be a Pasadena Rose Parade float to cheer me up.

(40,973 posts)Many years ago, I bought three rose bushes, but alas I didn't know the difference between heirloom & root roses, & now, they are all the same icky little red roses. I hate red roses.
Also, they have no scent.

(5,871 posts)I love my single nomadic lifestyle, so, gifts of any nature are kind of rare. But, chocolate? Yes! throughout the year I diet and do everything right (well.....I try....) but chocolate on Valentines? Yes! I am all for that even if I have to buy it myself since the availability and variety is all around on this special day. I prefer milk chocolate, chocolate with nuts, white chocolate. Dark chocolate is great in hot chocolate with mini marshmellows; yes, the list goes on.... ❤️

(66,287 posts)I'm currently a single guy, so to be clear this isn't an anti-women or anti-relationship take. Valentine's Day always just seemed so transactional. As a male primate, I gotta what, get a card, flowers, candy. Is that even what she really wants? I live up to the commercial, show up with the checklist items, right? Why? Because Hallmark said so? No thanks.
Nothing against those that take joy in the celebration of Valentine's Day. I think it's wonderful that folks can connect and make each other happy on that or any other day.

(3,208 posts)Made me laugh out loud! Honest to god when my husband and I used to make regular trips to Gettysburg, there was a WONDERFUL candy store and I always availed myself of their fabulous fudge. I once bought a large box of it just before our drive back to Pittsburgh, where I IMMEDIATELY settled in on my cushions on the floor and tore INTO IT!
With my mouth stuffed, my 'not husband yet' but boyfriend asked, "What are you doing?". Big smile on his face. I TRIED to say "Eating fudge" but HE heard, "PUSHING FUDGE!"
That description STUCK.LOL!!! We always refer to my LOVE of fudge in that very way!
