I listened to the audiobook last week. I saw there was a 1995 movie, and found it free on YouTube.
The movie is very true to the book. I watched it with my grandkid. We both enjoyed it. They described it as very sweet.
It's a quirky story, humorous, a little ironic, very human. Maybe PG13. There is some sex, so probably not suitable for children.
The book was written in 1932 by Stella Gibbons. It won an award at the time. The story and characters are timeless. I recommend.

The actors were good picks for the roles.
