"Then I remember my sister is older." Saw this on a T shirt. It's fitting for today since it's my sister's birthday! She is 68 today.
Happy Birthday to her. Yes she's a

(30,408 posts)of two sisters..When we were both in our 30's, I sent her a birthday card which read:
..Roses are red, violets are blue,
....Whatever your age,
....I'll be younger than you!
Now that we're both a couple of decades older,
I feel a little less chipper about it all.

(5,177 posts)I am four years younger. Now we both understand why my Dad, always said, "golden years, my ass."

We lost her at age 77 in 2021, but she had a good life.

(5,177 posts)I am going to be 64 on Sunday. My sister said once that if you counted back nine months from our birthdays, you'd end up on my Dad's birthday month. She joked, "guess we know what Mom gave Dad for his birthday at least twice in four years." She should have been a comedian, that one. 🤣

(1,826 posts)We've been together for about that long, too. We're still in love.
But, one thing I can't do ... complain to my wife about that feeling of getting older.
BlueKota
(5,177 posts)That would be awkward to complain about feeling old.

(1,198 posts)I was home on leave visiting my parents and my sister lived next door to them. I was walking around the town and saw the cable company storefront and I came up with an idea. I went in and asked if I could run a message on their community channel on our birthday. I wrote out the following:
"Please call XXXX at XXXX and wish her a happy 40th birthday from her younger twin."
The lady at the cable read it and cracked up laughing and said she knew my sister and said they'd run it. A couple days later, my mom, sister, and I went somewhere and we returned home about 10 pm. My sister went into her house and my mom and I went into her house. About 10 minutes later my sister is calls me and sarcastically thanking me. I say for what and she said for the notice on the cable channel. The cable company ran it a couple days earlier but her husband said a couple people call and wished her a happy birthday.
It's still the second best joke I've ever played on anyone.
