Makes me think of the old joke:
As long as there are tests in school, there will always be prayer in school!

This has actually happened to me, a cop doing a U-turn and pulling me over, without affecting my lack of religious thinking. In general it's meant I was doing something wrong, about which I've been subject to non-religious remonstration and even, on occasion, a ticket.

I had a boss who attributed finding a parking space in a crowded city to the interest of "Swami."

As it happens, I found an unexpectedly open space in a crowded lot this morning, and it struck me as a happy random event with no connection to an anthropomorphic creator of the universe interested in my ability to park.

Actually, all day long, day in and day out, horrible things happen to people of faith, something I've personally observed. I don't reject their right to assume their parking privileges are connected with a putative creator of the Andromeda galaxy and millions of galaxies beyond, nor do I attribute the horrible things from choosing the wrong or a better faith. Do do so strikes me as absurd.
