People in one neighborhood began noticing something strange involving stray cats and sidewalk delivery robots.
At first, the cats simply rode on top of the robots or wandered around them. But after a few days, observers started seeing a clear pattern in their behavior.
Whenever a robot tried to move in a direction the cats didnt seem to like, one of them would calmly step directly in front of it and stare straight into its cameras. The robot, programmed with safety systems to avoid obstacles and living creatures, would immediately slow down, stop, or change its route.
It looked almost like the cats were controlling the robots.
People jokingly suggested the animals had discovered a weakness in the machines and learned how to exploit it using timing, eye contact, and what many called their natural cuteness.
What surprised observers even more was how the behavior appeared to start. A single orange cat was often seen initiating the interactions, standing in front of the robots while the others watched nearby. Soon after, the other stray cats began copying the same technique.
Before long, the unusual robot control method had spread among several cats throughout the neighborhood.

(3,926 posts)1. What neighborhood? Where is it?
Is this story real, or ai?
Edited to add: i think this might be AI/photoshopped. Only finding it on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, with no mention of what city or country this is in. There does appear to be a breaking news report about it from somewhere, with the female reporter sounding Australian and the male reporter just looking...weird, especially around the eyes.

(3,926 posts)3. It is funny.
I have a couple of cats that would probably do this, if they didn't try to attack the robot first, lol.
