(29,298 posts)Having something of a musical background (piano, flute&piccolo, guitar, handbells), I'm very sensitive to rhythm. When people post limericks here that don't follow the prescribed pattern that defines what a limerick IS (usually with too many syllables) it drives me nuts.
Years ago, I tried learning a line dance that I found impossible. The music was in a 4/4 beat - very standard. The dance had a sequence of 9 steps, so, at least for me, it didn't fit with the music at all and I couldn't master it. My brain kept wanting one less step or one more beat. Several years later, I bailed on a Zumba class because most of the routines were composed of 6 step sequences put to 4 or 8 beats of music. Just couldn't do it.
