He got a "certificate of attendance" instead. Sadly, at eleven years of age, he's still flunking obedience.

But I met the grandmother dog in the lobby. She was 19 years old, blind and deaf and kept bumping into things, and I just couldn't get past that. I thought at first it was a good thing when I read that the breed has been reported to have long lifespans for a smaller dog. But she was so pitiful it broke my heart and I politely excused myself.

Nollie is very smart. But she's also stubborn and has her limits, which she communicates to me without hesitation. I have to remember that she's a wee thing and that little brain has a limited attention span.

We do love them deeply all the same.

She sleeps on my shoulder. One of the many joys of being her mom.

I can't imagine not having a pet. Since I have allergy problems, it was always poodles when I was little and Bichons when I became an adult. They are so precious, well, except for Paddington of course. LOL
