(8,817 posts)One common French recipe is to sautée them in butter and minced shallots. Combine that with an egg omelet ( stuff the omelette with the morels and shallots) or a fried egg.
Edit : here is a recipe in English about this :

Just don't eat them raw, they can mess with your stomach if you don't cook them.
Enjoy!

(192 posts)Morels are delicious, but you must clean them before using. It is typical that foraged morels will have not only dirt but also bugs.
Trim the end, slice them in half (lengthwise),, and let them soak in salted water. Then, you pluck them from the soak, dry them on paper towels, and use them -- soon....! (Some will tell you to avoid the soak, which is probably okay if they are clean -- cultivated or from a producer.)... Saute in butter, shallots, splash of white wine - maybe some herbs (I like thyme). They are particularly good with spring vegetables (and pasta, yes) -- peas, ramps, or asparagus.

(6,436 posts)Sauteed with butter, salt and a splash of wine, morels are heaven on their own. I haven't had fresh morels in years, but I remember the experience as bliss.
