Man purposely drove Cybertruck into lake to test 'Wade Mode,' police say

GRAPEVINE, Texas (CNN) - Police in Texas say a man is facing charges after he purposely drove his Tesla Cybertruck into a lake to try out its “Wade Mode” feature.

Officers with the Grapevine Police Department responded Monday night to a boat ramp at Grapevine Lake, where they found a Cybertruck in the water.

Police say the driver admitted to purposely driving into the lake in order to try out the “Wade Mode” feature, which lets a Cybertruck drive through shallow rivers or creeks. It didn’t seem to work out well since the vehicle became disabled, and water started coming in.

But, it begs the question "What the heck is wade mode?"
Isn't that driving through deeper water because the thing I way heavier than most vehicles so the tires would maintain contact longer?
But if that's the case, would that heavy beast ALWAYS be in "wade mode"?
