(23,081 posts)I still do, but I used to too.

(18,160 posts)I still have a couple beers a couple days a week, but aside from modest amounts of alcohol, my drug use is in aid of reducing health threats.

(23,081 posts)I quit drinking entirely in 2013.
I was dressed to the nines because we had just gone to a wedding about an hour away.
On the way home, I wanted to stop at a bar near my home, but my wife was tired and wanted to go home.
She told me to go out and have fun.
So I went to the bar and ran into a barmaid that I know who was off duty, and she was sitting with two old friends of mine.
They got me good and drunk, and apparently, I had the whole bar cracking up laughing.
The only thing I remember is some drunk woman slapping the shit out of me while I ducked and covered. She had no idea where or who she was, and she was so drunk that her eyes were looking in two different directions.
Someone drove me the half mile home.
I woke up the next morning to about 50 texts from different people with nothing but a "laughing" emoji.
I never had another drink again.

(18,160 posts)I had a similar experience where I overdid it, and stumbled and fell. I guess I stumbled, but I certainly fell. I'd been gradually building up to that, and I took a fifteen year break beginning the next morning.
That's how long it took for me to be sure I wouldn't get out of order again.
Your talent for hilarity hasn't suffered!

(23,081 posts)we're in the same club.
I have so many stories...
I was at a Grateful Dead concert in Philadelphia at the Spectrum in the nosebleed seats. I was smashed, dancing, and I slipped and took a swan dive. I couldn't get my arms out in front of me in time to break my fall, and I landed lips first on the back of a chair two rows down.
I spit out two teeth, turned my lips into hamburger, and bled all over myself.
Emergency dental visit the following day when I made it home.
I don't miss that part of my life.

(18,160 posts)Is your fixation on someone getting the miniature Dead wall of sound for you connected to this event? Does it look, seen close up, like the real one did from your seat at the Forum.
Now I'll be stuck thinking of "the lipbleed section."
LuckyCharms
(23,081 posts)They only used it for a couple of years...1973 and 1974. My first Dead show was not until 1977. It was the cleanest sound system to date for a concert performance. But its size placed so much stress on the band and equipment crew, that they had to stop using it.
Here's a video about it...
Edit to add: Audio cuts out for about 20 seconds at 3:12.

(18,160 posts)Puts greater context to Hendrix asking, "Owsley... can you hear me now?"

(23,081 posts)Would you please explain to Marthe what a great disservice she is doing by not purchasing the miniature Wall of Sound for me?
I would tell her myself, but I think she put me on ignore.
Thanks Harker!

(12,128 posts)Did they use you???
LuckyCharms
(23,081 posts)Actually Niagara, I was never a big drug user. I'm a severe lightweight when it comes to that!
I hope your day is going smoothly.
Niagara
