.
.
.
... but the older couple behind us had this ENORMOUS Great Dane that seriously
rivaled a small horse in size. To us kids, his bark seemed more loud and terrifying
than a derailed freight train smashing through the neighborhood.
.
We kids were all petrified. One day, the older man was out in the yard and called
me over and asked if I wanted him to introduce me to his dog. He convinced me
that it would be safe.
.
I put my hand up to pet the dog and he leaned forward and slurped my entire head.
.
I started laughing and he did it again -- EEEWWWW, my mouth was open -- but
it made me laugh harder and he licked all the more. I was pretty helpless.
.
We became best buds.
.
They had this flimsy open redwood slat fence around their backyard that he could
have simply WALKED through, but he had a hip problem so sadly common in big
dogs and I don't think he ever realized that he COULD get out.

we have had white and dark red golden retrievers before but he is the curliest and most interesting brown colour. He also has not gone through the awkward leggy teenage phaze? He has looked like a full grown golden since he lost his puppy fur. Good dog very smart
