What's the difference between a Ding Dong and a Ring Ding?

I have no idea, except that I learned Drakes produces Ring Dings and Hostess produces Ding Dongs.

Not familiar with the Drake brand so I assume they are a regional bakery.

maybe I've just been buying ding dongs and not noticing it.

I'm going to check the supermarket and see if I can find the drakes ring dings.

HoHos are rolled counter-clockwise.
Swiss Rolls are rolled clockwise.

Ring dings were filled from the bottom, and Ding Dongs were filled from the side.

Or maybe vice versa.....

Drakes was a separate company from Hostess but for a while Hostess owned Drakes. When Drakes split off, Hostess was required to call their Ding Dongs King Dons in areas where both Ring Dings and Ding Dongs were available.

Currently I think King Dons are only called that in Canada.

We had them here for a bout 2 years but that was 15 or 20 years ago maybe...Nobody believes me but I swear they tasted worse than the real thing....and then I bought a box of Ding Dongs a couple months ago just becasue I hadn;t had them in years and damn things were in plastic wraps instead of tin foil! Ruined it.
