Cline Pinot Noir, a Provence Rose, and a spanish Rose brut Cava. Five for dinner - two daughters, one of their friends, wife and I - that should do us fine!

. I was in peak condition then from the years of training. Since then I have spent a lot of time on the floor watching the room spin, listening to Chimpys latest adventures on NPR. (until '08.) I put on over 100 lbs and started losing circulation to my feet. There's a time for everything, including a time to wake up and smell the coffee.
Hoops, I want to thank you for being a total non snob, friendly and funny lodge dweller. You are way too hard on yourself at times.

I never have, at all. Tasted wine once as a kid, and champagne once at a wedding at the insistence of the mother of the groom. I didn't like it either time.

My family has a thing against alcohol since my uncle the cop was hit by a drunk driver head on at high speed, and lingered in agony in ICU for two plus weeks until he died, leaving a wife and five children. Drunk got some cuts and bruises. And just a light sentence, this was 40 some years ago.

even if I didn't have to work, I wouldn't be drinking, I've seen too many times what drinking and driving does.
You have a good Thanksgiving day and stay safe.

The body naturally tenses up before an impending impact. Drunks don't do that. You get fewer injuries if your body is limp on impact. That's pretty much why they are the survivors.

I've responded to a report of an accident on I-70 or I-44, or I-55 and found absolute carnage where the innocent victim was deceased and the suspected DUI was still alive.
Fucked up shit.

And since everyone who comes for dinner (14 at our table!) also heads out and helps with the work, I can structure it so we all stay safe. I will send the kids up the ladders for hay and take the easy tasks for those of us who have imbibed (water the horses and scoop grain).

we don't drink much.

Just vodka or gin on very rare occasions, and then only at home. Oh, or, sometimes a margarita if I can find one that actually has some tequila in it.

One mile turkey trot with the dog in the morning, and then it's game on. No driving.
