Ethnic foods you tried and love?

A recent one for me in the past few years is Ajvar, a vegetable spread/sauce made from roasted red peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, carrots, onion, garlic, celery, as a rule, although other than peppers, the rest vary from brand to brand. It comes in both sweet and hot pepper versions.

Makes a great dip, sandwich spread, or pasta or pizza sauce.

Only 14000% of the daily RV of sodium per serving. Really...and they're dyed red with beets.

Some of my faves: Chili and Lime from Mexico, coconut curry from Thailand, Yemisir Watt from Ethiopia, bean curd sheet from China, sobe noodles and tofu from Japan, and my new love: Burmese.

But the first ethnic food I tried when I lived in London is still my favorite food on the planet: Indian. In the years that have passed since I used to go to the corner curry house in Marleybone, I've come to realize why Indian cooking is so sublime. Those spices not only taste amazing, but they also bolster and protect your body. Turmeric has been shown to stop many symptoms of Alzheimer's and hot peppers strengthen your immune system. So good and good for you. Bring on the Bhengan Barta!

i have opened myself up to new food experiences. Hamburger was getting old after 40something years.

I've always loved Mexican/Tex-Mex and American-style Chinese and German food but I needed to expand.

SO I've been trying and loving:

Thai food - just had some great Penang curry yesterday

Sushi - all of it - well, except for salmon - I like it all but salmon. Raw, cooked, chirashi, maki, nigiri - eels, squids, clams, etc. Love it love it love it all.

Middle Eastern/Mediterranean/Greek: Including Indian, Lebanese, and whatever else I can find. Love Dolmadas, gyros, shwarma, hummus, all those spicy curries and other things I can't remember the names of but always show up at the buffets.

Latin America/Cuban etc. Boliche is one of my favorite things ever. Gonna have some later on today when I go to Columbia restaurant in Ybor City (Tampa) before the concert. But give me a round steak stewed in some tomato based sauce and yellow rice and and sweet plantains and a salad with 1000 Island dressing and I'm a happy guy.
