I'm thinking toys for tots and cash donations to food banks. I'm assuming they get more bang for their buck with their buying abilities than what I could do myself. My time is limited but I may be able to do a day or two on some kind of volunteer work. Any ideas?

(1,080 posts)They can buy in bulk to make the most of the dollars donated. We donate to Second Harvest Heartland, but I don't know if that's local or not.

(1,819 posts)My son and I are going there on Saturday to help sort food. Food and other items are sent back out to local food pantries. He needs community service hours for school.
I will also make a cash donation to a no-kill shelter I found recently when I was looking for someplace to donate pet food and cat litter that I got for either free or nearly free. (Not all my coupons are used on items for our household.)
