World Heritage Site

The Iguazu Falls are waterfalls forming the boundary between Brazil and Argentina and they are shared by the Iguaçu National Park (Brazil) and the Iguazú National Park (Argentina). The water falls are taller than and twice as wide as the Niagara Falls. They are the result of a volcanic eruption which left a deep crater in the surface of the earth. The waterfall system consists of around 275 falls and the majority of the falls is about 64 meters, but some of them even reach up to approximately 82 meters. Since the 1980s the two parks are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
