What did everyone get for the holidays?

I got clothes, including a hilarious shirt that says "this is my lazy shirt", and a $100 gift card to Barnes and Noble.

5. actually...

My Parents are in Osaka Japan visiting my Uncle's family till well after the first of the new year. (Wish I could have gone but my passport long expired.) We don't usually celebrate Kurisumasu, but they did send me a little cash before they left, because they know I love Peking Duck this time of year. I had enough cash to get some last night, and a little left over to buy some on the first of the year! Its amazing how far a duck will go for one person, so I am good for the next day or so! (I am stuffed now, bleh...haha!)

6. I had a great Christmas.

A surprise visit from my Denver daughter and grandsons, some redwing slippers, a very awesome tripod, a wallet, a Canon 8-15 mm fisheye lens, and this jacket (this color with a hood) made right here in Alaska.

I am blessed to have a husband who spoils me.

36. I love that jacket!

Especially the one on the right with all of that COOL trim. You have a great husband! It would be a tough choice to have to decide on the color and trim for one of those jackets or vests. All of them are gorgeous!

The more primary colors aren't good for me. And, yes, mine has the beautiful trim. I love supporting the local artisans.

and the Charlie Brown holiday specials on blu-ray from my hubby. Cash and a whole mess of baked goods.
The best presents were the kisses from the pups at the humane society where my husband works part time and where I volunteer.

Actually that's what I once heard Harlan Ellison say on the radio. He said that growing up, his family was so poor that the kids got phlegm for the holidays.

11. A new computer...

I actually got it a month ago. I tried to say "no", but I didn't try that hard, I guess... so, on actual Christmas I got a new pair of Levi's, some macadamia nuts, and some family photos. My nephew got the most stuff... as we told him, more than everyone else combined, but he didn't quite believe it.

The best part was that on Christmas eve day, I got my passport back with my Swiss work visa in it. That's what I really wanted, because trying to sort that out had become a multi-week massive headache and delaying it much longer could have caused me big problems.

Kind of suspicious too. Last week I brought home my retirement statement from work and one of the items listed was how much dough my wife gets if I die before I retire. Today I get hang-gliding lessons as a gift.

18. A fleece jacket, ss ring, Indiana Jones DVD collection, book on canning.

I've never tried canning, but would like to. And Sims 3: Seasons.

The best presents though, were that we are all healthy and still in our home. We also got a present from our insurance co. Apparently the original adjusters left a lot off the estimated coverage for the roof repairs -- by about half! Soooo they're rewriting the estimate.

gift certificates for manicure and pedicure, two scarves, a jeweled heart scarf clasp from Ireland, silver and crystal earrings, a hairbrush, two holiday ornaments, and my favorite... a cloth shoulder bag with a crayon portrait of a Florida panther drawn by my 11 year old grandson. Priceless.

Not that it matters if some man gets excited about getting earrings, a necklace, a couple of scarfs and gift certificates for a manicure and pedicure.

For a long time, I thought MFM was some nasty mother who liked to flip people off.

44. Yeah, Taverner and I have had some chuckles about our names

I was a regular on the board several years ago, but bush just sent me into a spiral so I had to leave politics for a while. I used to be KeysDisease, but since I couldn't remember any of that necessary top secret stuff (passwords, secret hand shake, etc.) to get back in, I just started from scratch. Tavernier is the town I live in, in the Florida Keys.

Yeah I'm a girl, but I'm ok with guys wearing jewelry and getting manicures. I draw the line at Victoria's Secret though, since the guys who shop there are better looking than me. Not fair.

45. I've been to Key West a couple of times when I was in the service.

Had a lot of fun (or so I was told!) but it was damn hot! Then working the next day in the heat with a hangover made me swear off drinking. At least till knock off when me and my shipmates would go out into town and do it all over again.

32. A bag of Seven Monkey Fury and a new laptop.

The Seven Monkey Fury is coffee, BTW. It came from the local coffee shop. I got it from the couple for whom I am cat-sitting, along with a nice bottle of Chianti, which will get drunk if and when I ever find a damn job. The laptop is replacing the nearly-unusable hand-me-down I have, as well as my 10-year-old desktop, which is starting to deteriorate. Can't afford to lose computer/Internet access while I'm still job-hunting. Did I ever telly that I have great family members? I also got cash, and a gift card to 5 Guys Burgers from my cat nieces. I've never been... I also gave myself a bunch of gifts by taking advantage of My Coke Rewards. They had a bunch of holiday deals on gift cards, and I got several of them. Missed out on a couple that I really wanted, but still made off quite well. Can't seem to break my Diet Coke habit, so I might as well take advantage of it...

46. Absolutely Nothing

Just what I wanted. I told family I didn't want to play the capitalist game of consumerism any more. I bought the kids some things because who can deny the little kids a toy or two. They will learn soon enough it's all a game and they can decide for themselves whether they want to play or not. As for me I'm out.
