Would you climb a swinging ladder, over a thousand feet high?

I had a dream about this last night and almost shit myself.

I had a dream I was supposed to climb a ladder attached to an airship, 1000ft above me.

Looking up, you couldn't see the airship because of the clouds.

The ladder swung back and forth, due to winds.

In that dream, I have concluded that I could never do this.

What about you?

I look at what's supporting us, and I am reassured

Swinging from a rope ladder where the wind could flick you off into the sunset is a bit different.

Even thinking about this question gets me dizzy

you're not under your own power going up (or down.) Fatigue would be a huge factor in the fear one would have besides the fear of unsafe/unharnessed heights.

And then there's the part about the ladder being up in the clouds, so you'd have moisture on the rope to deal with, too.

It's also a testament to how little wisdom you have at that age.

I was never afraid of falling, you have double safeties. I was always more worried that a crazy bum would tie my line to a taxi cab's bumper or something.

I've also been up on shorter freestanding towers that were on the edge of a 1000' cliff. You get used to it. I used to love to climb to the top of a tower and lay down on a platform watching the clouds go by as you felt the wind sway the tower back and forth.

That is like climbing more than half of the Empire State building while swinging back and forth.
It would take hours and hours with no actual rest.

I might do it, if each step can handle 2000lbs of weight, even though I am only 160. There also has to be spots every 50 feet where you could rest, with a backward seat, where you can attach a rope that is tied to you in case you fall.

However, I doubt that I could.
I feel sick just thinking about it.

tiny, tight elevators that go to the 72nd floor even if the building stops at 35 stories. Puny ladders to climb on the cornice of high buildings.

I think these dreams are about trust (or, more specifically, the limits to my trust).
