There was a video going around
at one time which showed a zoo where a small boy had fallen into the pit/pen where the gorillas were kept.
One of the gorillas ran over and scooped the boy up, no doubt scaring the shit out of onlookers who wondered if the boy would be killed.
No. The gorilla held the child safe (likely out of harm's reach of some of the males who might have killed him) until zookeepers could fetch the child.
I think of that, and my heart aches so much for all the horrible things we humans have done to the various creatures of the earth, especially our closest Primate relatives.
There are times when I really really dislike humans.
PS...a bit of editing here...I found the video. It was a male gorilla, and he didn't scoop the child up, he just stroked him. Still amazing, though...
