I've seen beatbox used in some creative ways. The Carolina Chocolate Drops cover and create mostly black folk music, especially old-timey stuff. I saw them live last summer opening for Bob Dylan in Kettering, Ohio. For their live performances they added a guy who does beatbox as their rhythm section. It was awesome! They tore the house down. My wife and I are going to see them again in February. They are coming to our hometown and will be playing at a college within walking distance of our home. I hope they bring the beatbox guy.
