BTW, I was absolutely intrigued by the little cats with red coat, black ear tufts, and blue eyes. I had to know what they were. So, I used a bit of google magic, and it appears that you have 3 baby caracal's. I can see why the Egyptians were taken by them and even had them embalmed within Kings' tombs and have their own picture in hieroglyphs. They are extremely magnificant. I wouldn't doubt that "taming" one of these cats to be in domestication wouldn't have been done. They are relatively "small" for lynx; so it wouldn't surprise me that ancient Egyptians didn't try to domesticate them (or crossbreed them with domestic cats for a unique look with more domecile traits.
I'm glad you included their picture in the post. I have now learned something new, and learning something new is alway a great thing in my book. Africa truly has some of the most unique and magestic animals. It would be wonderful if the countries/ tribes/ "ripping off" of African countries ever stabilized enough for the continent to become more "open" for the world; not just wealthy people off for an exotic hunt or adopting babies surrounded by loads of security and the most modern conveniences that can be pulled off. The continent has many different types of terrain, habitats, and natural untouched beauty. It makes me sad that the continent has seen constant turmoil for such a long time, resulting in exploitation, slavery, and mineral & ore extraction for people who are wealthy and only becoming more wealthy thru their exploitative practices with the backing often times from US, France, Great Britain, Russia, the UN, and now even China. Using tribal issues, wealth disparity (literally hungry bellies), religion, and "War on Terror" to extract the continent's wealth while also having little govt intervention for regulation or worker's rights. The wealthy are such a blight on the world.
Anyway, wonderful pics. Love the exoctic little 3. Those blue eyes defined by the facial coloration patterns make the cats beautiful. The white ring around the eyes, with black contrast along the face and then the regal black ear hair tufts that give the cats a very regal presence.

(12,233 posts)of the reference sites in my post so that more people could tag onto the sites to see more pics and their history and regional living areas. Thanks for including the Wikipedia page site... Now, more can jump over to the site and learn about these wonderful looking cats.
Even though they are one of the "smaller" cats compared to say a lion, they have such a regal look about them. Their face seems to be painted in a manner to draw one in. Such a beauty (like many of Africa's wonderful animal species). It's no wonder to me that they were an Ancient Egyptian favorite. I also see there are very few in actual captivity, but that some "wealthy tools" around the world do decide to keep them as pets (I guess the wealthy, elites are not so different than Egyptian Phaoroahs and Queens). It's sad to me that anyone would keep them as pets; to take them out of their home in Africa to be caged and "domesticated" like a trophy.
It's also how I feel about caging birds. I couldn't imagine being stuck as a bird in a cage never to fly in the sky. Could u imagine how we would feel stuck in a cage (jail isn't the nicest place for humans and its a form of punishment that we incarcerate people in cages with no freedom.
