(14,120 posts)The Mountains get a good amount. But, a lot of my neighbors have parked the car till it passes. There is a Deli and a Thai restaurant not a minute's walk away. That is as far as many plan to go.

(7,515 posts)I know the mountains get snow, my father had cousins who lived in Flagstaff.
I lived in Richmond, VA for 4 years. They were clueless. Riding with my father one day, we stopped at a light at a major intersection and couldn't believe what we were looking at. Across the street, a car was resting on its back wheels, while the front axle was perched several feet off the ground and up a utility pole. A snow plow must have created enough of a bank at the base of the pole that when the car went into its slide, the bank acted as ramp. It was amazing.

In Tucson, a "Blizzard Warning" means that Dairy Queen is running out of ice cream.

(426 posts)If so, it should be here....I live in the Southern California hi-desert, by tomorrow. Most snow storms usually miss us. We're like the banana belt here.

(426 posts)As windy as it's been here since last night, any snow would never make it to the ground. But, if it's not going to snow, at least warm up a bit!

Tomorrow morning you will wake up and it will all be gone.
Las Vegas is like that. But I loved the smell of snow in the desert. It's very distinct.
P.S. Glad to hear you're feeling better.

(8,352 posts)I have seen snow in Tucson when I lived there in the 1990's. I have never seen it here in Phoenix (outside of a dusting at the higher elevations), but today, it frakin' snowed in downtown Phoenix, AZ!
Yes, snow in Phoenix. We made a little snowman and clumped together a few snowballs.

(6,795 posts)building snowmen in East Mesa!!! They had a blast!! Of course the snowmen were about 3 inches tall!
in the mountains of western North Carolina and am no stranger to a good snow.
This was quite surprising and fun. I even got to throw a few 'snowballs' at the neighbor kids.

(6,795 posts)When I met my fiancé, he was living in Dallas. I loved visiting him! Such nice people.....such personalities....houses, churches, white fences, swimming holes and rolling grassy hills.....I wish I would have moved there instead of having him move to AZ!
Never made it to Asheville......or the coast...wish I would have done so!

(8,352 posts)When I was young, I was too smart and too ambitious to enjoy the small town I was being raised in. All I wanted to do was get out and see the big world. I left home at 17 as an exchange student to what was then West Germany and really never went back except for brief visits.
Now what family I have left have retired or live near my sisters in the DC area, and I miss that small town and those mountains so much. I really miss having four seasons, unlike Arizona where it is basically hot or not so hot.
I went through Dallas a few times but never got to really visit it like I did Austin and San Antonio. If you get the chance, try to visit Asheville. The beauty of the Blue Ridge in that area is just breathtaking especially the turning of leaves during early fall.

(6,795 posts)I don't like AZ much right now. Ready to move anywhere!

(8,352 posts)Duh, I have never been to Dallas, NC but I do know Charlotte.
Yeah, I am ready to leave Arizona soon myself. As soon as my health stabilizes and my love finishes her Masters, we are planning to do so.
