but I wouldn't missed it for anything
an old lover once said to me: The greater the love, the deeper the pain.
My heart needs more than I have now for me to want to continue on.
oh and. This was probably my last trip here.
Clearly my GPS was off the year of my birth.

(9,385 posts)It was very kind of you, to reply late at night as you did. (I'm ok, just a sucker for heartfelt sad songs, being familiar with the territory.)
A hug to you You're right, heartbreak isn't any fun, but we get through it.

(9,385 posts)I don't know you or your situation, but I sense that in a way maybe I do.
Thank you for the beautiful song, "The Dance", that you posted above. You must've picked up a vibe when I posted this thread, because I was thinking of someone who I used to see most often at dances. 3 1/2 years of beautiful dances (and days on the Maryland bay), all of that time as perfect as the stories that used to be made into movies in the '30s and '40s. I was lucky enough to live one of those beautiful stories. But it is hard to lose that.
Still, as the song says, I wouldn't have missed a moment of it for the world. That love has sustained me for decades, it got me through some awful things, intact. Because once a person knows that kind of love, nothing can ever take it away.
I hope for you everything you're looking for.

(72,300 posts)But life has a way of going on even, if my own seemed at a stand still.
ah yes.
I have known more than one man, who's tender words took my breath away.
Some were kept an arms length away, for the good of all concerned.
But the passion still existed between us and it always will.
No one can ever change the way things are.
I must believe that love is still waiting again . . . .

Smiling to myself here -- I don't mean to make this "all about me" but that song is among the ones we danced to, from "our era" (1964-68). All of those hold a special place with me. It seems the "vibe thing" in this thread is still working.
Oh my, we did have some good times, back then! I do love a man who can dance.
The very first time he asked me to dance, I said no. I had already thought about leaving, and was getting ready to go. He said, "No! you can't leave now, you just can't say no!" His eyes were so pleading, I couldn't refuse. I shudder to think what I almost missed.

(21,925 posts)I grew up in the 60s and they were one of my favs. Judith Durham was so beautiful and talented (and still is), with one of the most angelic voices I've ever heard. I have mainly been a fan classical and jazz but I couldn't help loving The Seekers who were extraordinarily good at what they did.
Here's the Seekers' cover of a gospel song made famous by The Weavers. And Judith Durham was an accomplished classical and jazz pianist, in addition to having a classically trained voice.
