Perheps scared is not the right word. Terrified would fit better.
I'm scared of all lizards, even the small lil ones. I'm also scared of frogs. I once caught one in my bathroom and I grabbed her with a paper towel and threw her out. All day that day I felt pain and tingling through my arm. What the hell is wrong with me? Is this phobia normal?

(13,985 posts)I have no idea how you people can possibly like such hideus creatures. I don't wish them harm, I just want them far far away from me

(12,256 posts)has a tadpole phobia. It started when she was a toddler being potty trained, and tadpoles some with stubby legs found their way into the toilet. (They lived at Maxwell AFB.) She would only use her own little potty chair. She said the beebee foggy feeshies bite Jennies hiney.

(12,132 posts)for lizard hatin'! lol...I don't know if this helps but think of them as eating the mosquitos. I never mess with lizards aroudn my house because I figure as long as they are there, that means less mosquito bites for me. I hate mosquito bites way more than I hate lizards.
I get even with frogs by eating them (there's a few places around that have gooooood frog legs.
)
On a completely unrelated note: Upcoming cool shows -
Suicidal Tendencies with Sick Of It All at the Plaza Live Theater on Friday, May 3
Cannibal Corpse with Napalm Death and Immolation (and others) at the Beacham theater downtown on Wednesday, June 12th

(13,985 posts)Have you ever been to Beacham? The sound system is horible and the whole place smells like pee. Maybe ill go anyway :/

(12,132 posts)I've been going to the Beacham for shows since the late 80s/early 90s. They stopped doing shows there for a long time in the 2000s and only recently brought it back to life for concerts (it was a dance club or something for a while). What you see now is after they extensively remodeled it - it's a hundred times nicer now than it used to be.
You gotta find the right spot and it depends how good the sound guy is but they can have good sound in there. The Death tribute show last year was great.
I remember seeing so many great bands back in the day - Coroner, Prong, Napalm Death. Sepultura, Kreator and Exodus back when they were good! lol... Nocturnus, Godflesh, Sacred Reich, and I don't know how many more I can't remember right now...I've been a fan of Sick Of It All ever since then because I saw them there - they were one of the support acts for some show I don't even remember the headliner - All I remember is SOIA blew the joint up.
Uninteresting factoid: Both the Plaza Live and The Beacham were once plain old movie theaters. I'm pretty sure when I started going to shows at the Beacham they had just ripped the theater seats out and left everything else including the decades of spilled cokes and popcorn and bum pee. I think they just threw some carpet on the floor for the remodel so that's why it smells that way.
lol, it doesn't bother me though. Metal should be played in filthy bars where the kids can get a righteous circle pit going.
If you think the Beacham is bad you should see a show in the shit-hole next door. It's about 1 tenth the size of the Beacham and I've seen Cynic and Gojira there and it was great!

(490 posts)Lizards makes excellent friends. Many have trouble seeing this but I was a caretaker for nearly six foot iguana for almost a decade. I took the time to really know this reptile and he turn began to examine me. For instance, he began understanding the difference between my work clothes and street clothes. He always began to alpha display in unhappiness when he saw my work clothes because he knew I would be going away for the day. My street clothes caused him no such anxiety. He became very affectionate and enjoyed being held and coddled.
Most people don't understand reptiles but they can be very affectionate friends. Never think of them as pets... they're still very wild but try to think of them as friends. You get from the relationship what you are willing to put into it and at sometime you may very well feel comfortable showering with an arboreal tree climber with immense claws. This is how it was with Jade and I. When he died, I mourned as I would any other family friend. I had him cremated with two other older family cats (who eventually adjust to Jade and began playing with him gently.) He was very much a member of my family.
Phobias can be difficult to overcome but I most certainly wouldn't recommend getting a reptile to overcome it. It takes a serious amount of work to keep one alive in a captive condition. Sadly, most not in a zoo die at a very early age.
I only posted to let you know reptiles are very cool as long as you research the one you're dealing with thoroughly.

(13,985 posts)They simply teriffy me. They're so clammy and soft, but strong and fast if you try to catch them. I had to remove a few anoles from my place in south FL when I was living there. Now I only have the small lizards around, I guess they're called geckos. The most I'm scared of are the iguanas. God I hate them!! I get goose bumps just thinking about them. I know my fear is unreal, but I can't help it. I grew up in Europe in the city. We didn't have any lizards around, I saw my first lizard when I moved here 2 decades ago. But that still doesnt explain it. We didn't have armadillos either , or big snakes. I love snakes.
Like I said, something is wrong with me.
