It's great to keep up with friends and family who are scattered all over the world, good source of selected bits of information (but most of the politics I find on there I can also find on DU - with more substantial comments and discussions), and hell, who doesn't like a good cat or dog graphic to make you smile?
However, from a sociological stand point, from a democracy-based, bigger picture standpoint, it's a freaking Orwellian nightmare of privacy invasion and personal data collection.
