Modern Times Forever (Stora Enso Building, Helsinki) is a 2011 film by Danish artists' group Superflex. It is currently the longest film ever made, lasting 240 hours (10 days). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Times_Forever_%28Stora_Enso_Building,_Helsinki%29
I'm not in any hurry.

(27,247 posts)My mom got me that book (Scholastic) when I was in elementary school and I saw the movie when it came to my town a little bit after that. I saw it again for the first time in more than 40 years not too long ago, and it really became an emotional experience for me, especially when the gang are driving down the road (on the wrong side, if they were supposed to be in England!) to the beach singing the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song.

(47,675 posts)The only vehicle you're likely to see with the steering wheel on the right side is one of the space-buggy mail trucks.
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)which might explain why they were driving on the "wrong" side of the road, and why the town they drove through looked more French than English

(6,996 posts)I would watch Woody Allen's wonderful fantasy before my ultimate demise because for an hour and 34 minutes I would be in Heaven.
I loved every minute of this film and, if allowed, I would pause and replay the Adrian Brody cameo as Dali over and over.

(15,758 posts)I LOLed at Adrien Brody too. "DALI! DALI!!!"
nuxvomica
(14,092 posts)I love Allen's movies but I always expect them to be just more of the same, predicably amusing, like a favorite TV show. But Midnight is exceptional for it's cinematography, humor and philosophy. I thought Hemingway was the funniest personality sketch but I must admit Dali is the part Brody was born to play. Bates was born to play Stein, too.

(15,758 posts)for a blog post. Not sure I could pick just one from my feel-good/good-cry list. Maybe That Thing You Do! because it's cute and happy and has a catchy tune to sing till I can't sing no more.

(14,092 posts)She'd never read the book either. She's one of the few people who's read my unpublished novel completely (which she loved, BTW) and we were discussing the best ways to start a story. I said Harper Lee really hooks you with that first line about Jeb breaking his arm and she didn't know what I was talking about. So I think I'm going to get her a DVD of the movie to thank her for helping me with the novel. I feel a little envious of her cuz she'll be seeing it for the first time.

(12,132 posts)I've been seeing this thread for several days and I resisted entering simply because I couldn't think of the right movie and wanted to give it some thought without being influenced by others' picks.
I FINALLY think of the right movie and open the thread and there it is in the OP.
I loved that movie so much when I was little - I remember my dad taking me and my little brothers to see it in a theater. Saw it on TV a time or two after that and no matter how old I got, it's always remained one of my favorites mostly because I love remembering doing things with my dad. Even if we had to bring my pukey little brothers along. Never a child catcher around when you need one.
I recently bought the Blu-ray and only just now realized that was Benny Hill in there. lol I was also previously unaware of the sheer magnitude of talent involved besides Benny and Dick Van Dyke and the other actors. Roald Dahl, Ken Hughes, Ian Freakin Fleming! Albert Broccoli!
I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I have also loved James Bond films all my life...
Thanks for the memories, HH.
