I have a rescue named Jake, a Wheaten Terrier/something mix who is adorable, loves everyone he sees to the point of leaping on anyone who comes through the door to lick them and is maybe the most affectionate dog I've ever seen. But he is driving me nuts licking my pillows. If I leave my pillow exposed after having my head on it, whether it's my bed pillow or a pillow on the couch, ever for a few seconds, when I come back (after taking a pee or getting a snack, etc) and lay down again it is covered with dog slobber. Jake licks my pillows whenever he can like they are lollypops. He doesn't do this to my wife, who says Jake loves me so much he can't get enough of me so any chance he gets he has to "taste" me. He has eaten a hearing aid (cost me $800), a dental bridge and a coat pocket (from the inside out) that I had a cough drop in.
My question is: How the hell do you stop a dog from eating things they are not supposed to eat and most of all, licking your damned pillows? It's so bad that when I get up at night to pee (enlarged prostate) or go to the fridge for a snack I have to cover my pillow with a blanket. All he needs is about 30 seconds to turn the pillow into a dripping mass of doggy slobber.

(2,173 posts)It doesn't take much. Their noses are 500 times as sensitive as ours (not kidding). Just sprinkle some around the perimeter of the pillow and your problem is solved. Put some on your hearing aid and in your coat pockets too.

(10,237 posts)It didn't our dogs have eaten everything so they can avoid what is called dog food .
Its time to abduct the Dog Whisperer or resort to some books with clues about how to train terriers .

(2,173 posts)I wouldn't use it on a pillow unless you're REALLY into nose bleeds.
Edit: Besides, we have a dog who loves hot sauce, even habanero. She'll eat anything my wife eats.
