(32,265 posts)It's beautiful in the snow, but since we had 3, 4 and 6 yo children with us, warmer weather would have been appreciated. We did have a good time and plan to go back later in the year. Many of the rides and shops were not open yet.

(27,247 posts)I wish I had a clock like the one at SDC that just repeats the years in a single decade. I'd set it for either 1960-69 or 1990-99

(29,202 posts)religious shows and forced morality on water rides... i.e. don't you dare show swimming attire... won't be back there... it's unfortunate.

Les Paul played exceptional music well into his eighties (though late in his career he had to
play through the pain of arthritis).

Roy Clark turns 80 in a coupla weeks.

I think it was his "Roy Clark Live" album from 1972 that first bowled me over (I REALLY
disliked country at that point) Double album (I think) on which he played guitar, banjo
and fiddle like a demon. "Under the Double Eagle" is the song I remember and I also
remember him singing "The Green Green Grass of Home" -- but turning the lyrics into
a song about marijuana.

(53,339 posts)Our hotel could not have been more accomodating, and the manager even participated in our events there.
Our scheduled show's headliner canceled, so we had to go to the local magic show instead. It was a very good show, despite the fundie BS in the final act.
And we had some great food at the local dinner houses.
I suspect you're going to have a great time there. So have fun, and I'll wait to interrogate you when you return.
And if you see a certain female star there, be sure and tell her for me, "Hello, Dolly."

(5,714 posts)What a great trip! Lots of great shows! The A cappella group "Six", the Haygoods, some comedy and magic tricks, and a ride on Branson's Show Boat yesterday to top it off!
In terms of the local culture...I wasn't expecting there to be a tribute to the veterans at Every. Single. Show!
I guess Branson is very "red-blooded Middle American" like that!
Anyway, it was a great time!

(12,904 posts)That there are roads that run parallel to 76 Country Boulevard (main road through Branson)? If you can find them, these back roads can save many minutes between all those events that you are surely attending.
Shoji Tabuchi?
Yakov Smirnoff?
I like touring the caves, especially when it's really hot outside.
Branson is one of the crazier places in my state.
