9. I saw this movie when it came out in a theater in 1959.

I was 18.
Now I'm approaching 72.

I am absolutely gobsmacked by how much of the plot went WAYYYY over my head as a callow youth.

Did not pick up on the West gay character at all.
Or the fact that West wasn't Newman's father.
And the excellent turn down by Newman of Alexis Smith's sexual approach to him.
Kept her happy and his position/options secure.

Maybe it's true.
Age does bring some modicum of wisdom?
