This having hydro thing 24/7 is great!

.
.
.

For those that do not know, I suffered in a 17 foot trailer with no hydro except what I could afford gas for my generator now and then, and minimal heat with propane for years . . . .

ANYHOO! -

Living in a nice motel housekeeping unit for the next month while I wait to get into the home I bought in the bush - 28 acres.

YUP - I said BOUGHT! It's mine, just waiting for the thaw to dry up the road.

Here it is, after midnight, had a crock-pot (again) going for 2 days, made some meal packs for the freezer, added frozen veggies, peas, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli to the pork roast and taters already in there.

At this time of day(night) up to two months ago, I'd be laying in my bunk under 3 comforters just to stay warm . . .

NOW, due to an unexpected inheritance, I can LIVE!!

not just survive.

You could start a commune, or build a theme park, or something

Land-wise, gardens and greenhouses - found out by accident I got the green thumb thing going.

Otherwise, being a retired mechanic, an above ground hoist for the larger garage already insulated and with hydro.

Got 3 extra wood-stoves, 2 for the garage(one cooking, one air-tight) - and will build a lean outside for the other cook-stove (got 2) for cooking with wood in the summer - land is almost totally wooded!

Upgrading garage mostly to work on my own vehicles and equipment, but will do some occasional work for established friends - won't be "hustling" work, no need.

And once I'm settled, search out a mate (female) that appreciates that kinda life way back in the bush.

Little bit of hunting, just small game, rabbits, partridge, etc - and fishing in nearby streams and lakes for food.

I like privacy, so no commune, no theme park.

But it would be a good spot for one if so inclined!

think resale . . .

most of us Canuks refer to electricity as hydro.

In fact, our main provider is called Ontario Hydro.

Oh, - now we're n the subject, had no running water either for almost six years.

A SHOWER??? -

only when it was real warm and momma nature decided to empty the skies.

People thought, and said to me after they learned of my inheritance that I'd waste my money on a new vehicle, sitting around drinkin' myself to death and so on -

Instead - I bought a home, put money in trust for future income,

bought 2 brand new deep-cycle 12 Volt batteries and now have them, and inverter(for 110) a 12 volt cooler for food, water, propane barbecue, extra bedding and clothing, and LED lights at the motel unit I'm living at while I wait to get into the bush road where my property is.

I do NOT take anything for granted anymore, or anyone (sigh on that one).

Even got an extra battery(brand new) for my laptop. Already had 3, but two are getting lazy.

Bottom line, if, no, - WHEN the power goes out(does it way to often in Northern Ontario) -

I be ready.

Thanx to all for their congratulations and best wishes.

My neighbor, about 800 feet away plows the road with a loader - the road gets too muddy each spring for 2-4 weeks each spring - even a 4x4 would get stuck in spots.

I picked the seclusion on purpose. Not only did I get 28 acres surrounded by thousands of acres not developed, I got a beauty home all for well under 100k.

Take a peek:

and - they are leaving it furnished!

What is the little shed? It's a huge garage. I wouldn't think anybody would need a little shed.

Congratulations on your new home.

that's where you see the bunk-beds, then the small airtight wood-stove.

A private guest room of sorts.

Living room and kitchen are open concept, then 2 bedrooms on one side, then a large sun-room(to be MY bedroom) and bathroom on the other side.

I'll be posting lots of pictures of the OUTSIDE beauty in the near future.

All those pix were taken by the previous owner in order to sell the place.
