There are so many awesome-sounding jobs I would love to be doing. I would love to do international relief work or help those in need here at home... that's precisely why I went back to school. The problem is, there are essentially two groups these jobs fall into:
1) the kind that require a decade of experience
2) the kind that require signing a statement of faith.
It's not that I don't have faith. I definitely have faith. It calls me to action and breaks my heart wide open. Yes, it impacts every corner of my life... And no, it's really none of your damn business. Of course, if you think signing a statement of faith is all that important, my supernatural call to action probably doesn't tick the right boxes you're concerned with... But forget about me, let's talk about God. Is it really possible that after all we've been through on this planet together, these statement swearers really believed God is so small that s/he can't (or simply won't) use atheists, agnostics, and other freako heathens to make a difference? Is their faith really that small? If someone wants to do work that is by its very essence an outpouring of love... isn't that God's love regardless of whether the love-r is aware of that or not? Oh, ye of little faith. No, I won't sign your oaths.
