While a Pap Smear is pretty darn common and routine for women you should still probably get all the information about it possible. That way when you speak with the doctor and get the results you might have better questions for the doctor than otherwise.

I'd encourage anyone who's getting some sort of medical test to research it before having it (if possible) and getting results of the test. You're better off as an informed patient. We didn't have the option of internet searches not that long ago and just had to sit there silently when our doctors told us about tests and the results. We have a great tool now to become an informed patient, a better patient. We should use it.

And after 65, you don't need them anymore. Go figure.

It was a pelvic, which invades your space the same way. Since I had a hysterectomy, I thought, no cervex, no pap.
Wrong. Now I have to have them yearly until I'm 65. Sheesh.
I have a wonderful PA, who was very comforting. Not my favorite way to spend an afternoon, but it was fine.

And grab a couple of fallopian tubes for ya. I think you can put the pap in 'em, so ya can study it better. Very scientific methodish. I think there are some rules though, to get the most accurate cells. Put down the douchebag, baby.

That sounds horrendous. Those hard, cold metal speculums, look like a torture devise. I think they are refrigerated. One of my old friends always refered to being on the table as, "that ignorant position", I don't know why but it always made me laugh. I just had a mamogram. Woo Hoo cancer free, there. The indignity of womanhood. Gad, again.

But the follow up letter was a bit of a relief. Best of luck with your pap test.
