RIP Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman

http://www.tmz.com/2013/05/02/jeff-hanneman-slayer-guitarist-dead/

Monstrous thrash-metal guitar hero and founding member of Slayer Jeff Hanneman has died of liver failure ... TMZ has confirmed. He was 49.

Reps for the legendary axeman said Hanneman was in a hospital near his SoCal home when his liver failed around 11 a.m.

The punk-influenced thrasher was a major part of Slayer's songwriting ... contributing lyrics and music on each of their albums ... including songs "Raining Blood," "War Ensemble" and "Seasons in the Abyss."

Slayer was one of the first thrash metal bands that mattered. To me, anyway.

on Slayer's south of Heaven tour was one of the top 10 best shows I've ever seen. They were monsters live back then.

Wish I still had the CD's - I had all of them except 'Show No Mercy' and 'Undisputed Attitude' - but I lost my whole metal collection in a house fire 10 years ago.

I think we need to take up a collection. Listening to metal on Spotify is no substitute.

My co-workers tomorrow are getting All Slayer all Day. The guy I share an office with won't mind and the guy in the next office will get over it.
