His father had to haul water two miles.

A wooden platform that carried two barrels of fresh water each.

He called it a stone boat.

He wanted to stick a needle in my young ass.
I wasn't having any of that, thank you very much.
The device was retrieved.
I was spanked and immunized then and there.

Rock and roll...

I'm glad your parents cared enough. I have to arm-wrestle some parents best two-out-of-three just to convince them to immunize their kids...

No, not I'm not British born, my granny use to call it the telly--they came over from Ireland.

Total Recall--the new one is on, I'm not really watching, it's just on cuz I don't feel like seeing if anything else is on.

What's the weather like out there? It's starting to get nice here. In the 70's and sunny today will be the same tomorrow.

Beautiful. I did an hour on the elliptical walker today, and then when I was done, I looked outside and said: "What am I? Crazy? I'm going outside!" I went outside and did another hour of cardio in the sunshine.

Life is good...

I've got Irish ancestry, too. And Welsh. And Scottish. And French.

Just call me a Celt.

I have some French and a little German.

So you're not a boxing fan? I use to like boxing, but too many questionable outcomes so I stopped watching.

Saw Iron Man 3 last night. I liked it, my son didn't, said they didn't do the Mandarin storyline justice.

I never followed the Iron Man comics much when I was a kid. So I can't tell if the movie does the Mandarin storyline justice, either...

I was a Batman fan...

I'm not a church going kind of guy, but I went to the party afterward and we went out to eat with this guy and some friends from church. He was telling us what he did prior to moving here and it all sounded interesting to me. I asked him if he had a degree. He said that he was close to having a degree in business administration. I'm in school right now majoring in the same thing, so I started telling him about my deal. As we were talking he mentioned that he couldn't go back to school because he was on disability. I had no idea, but I apologized and changed the subject.

My wife hadn't filled me in on all the details. She knew he was on disability, but not why. She e-mailed him after we got home, apologizing again for me. He said it was okay. He said the reason why he did not get into it at dinner was because he is HIV positive and just didn't feel like discussing it with everyone. Again, I had no idea.

I guess now I kind of have an idea of why he's getting religion.

I slept all day today after dinner. Don't know why. I'll probably be up all night.

I'm still up, no major surprise!

Streaming some cool classical music over the 'net, and surfing DU...

My husband and I just finished watching 2 back-to-back episodes of CSI:Miami! We get it on Netflix, and even though it's done on broadcast TV, we're hooked!

I just got home from a dinner party at the home of a friend who just returned from 3 weeks in Jordan and Israel. We had Jordanian mint lemonade on the patio before dinner with pita and various spreads and a variety of olives. After sitting down at the table, she served a a tiny cup of cardamom coffee in the Jordanian style and had pita with various herbs and butter. For dinner we had plum wine created by friends of a couple at the dinner party, baked ham, spring salad with blue cheese and dried cranberries, with a middle eastern rice with tomato and spices. For dessert we had a citrus tea with angel food cake and candied dried oranges from Jerusalem. Afterwards, she showed us her slides and gave a talk on the antiquities she saw. She does her research and makes it very interesting for all. She gave us each a momento of her trip -- she knows I like tea so she gave me fruit tea from Tel Aviv. We all had a lovely time.
