I should make a list of what I want in a real, loving, committed relationship. For some reason, I always find that hard to articulate! But, I'm finding myself thinking along the same lines as quite a few of the posts here....

I mean a relationship is nice...but I'm terribly solitary.

I don't want to ever get married. I hate/don't want kids. I need a lot of space and alone time on my own schedule because I'm a writer. I'm wary about co-habitating unless I have a "I can get the F away from you" space. (I'm a writer.) I'm ambivalent on monogamy.

Someone to fuck. Someone to go to the movies with. A team Cards Against Humanity partner. ("God is Dead" rules, of-course.) Someone to eat my cooking. A recreational sports partner. Someone who will do my laundry in exchange for me cleaning the apartment. (One of these tasks is Zen, the other is Hell.) Someone who will look good on my arm. Someone who likes people-watching, brunch, coffee, coffeehouses and art museums. Someone with compatible taste. A reader. (+2 bonus points if you hate Nicholas Sparks and want him to die horribly in an ironically-unromantic circumstance.) Someone who realizes that the outskirts of major cities really are the ends of human civilization and will never demand I live in suburbia or flyover country. Someone as hip as me.

+5 bonus points for EU citizens; I feel like America is over like an apartment party at 3am on a Tuesday with no vodka left and an unfavorable guys-to-girls ratio.

I'm looking for all of the above but it's damned near impossible to find so I've all but given up.

I want someone who likes me for me, not someone who thinks they can change me into what they think I should be.

I want someone who is unpretentious and doesn't have to have the latest flashy gizmo or doohickey just because everyone else has it.

I want someone, like me who has somewhat of a sense of adventure and is not afraid to visit new places and try new things.

I want someone who I don't have to babysit.

I want someone who is responsible and can pull their own weight. I refuse to be someone elses mother, father, personal ATM, or maid.

I want someone who is not afraid to say, "I'm in a relationship with LeftofObama, and he's in a relationship with me. We don't mess around behind each others back."

And this is the biggie, I want someone with whom I'm sexually compatible. I don't know about other gay guys, but I can tell you in my neck of the woods it's damned near impossible to find.

That being said, I think I'm going to be single for a long long time.

35. You want the truth? You probably don't want to know from me but here goes...

I'm 31 and never even kissed a girl, let alone sex. Actually more than that I've never even held hands. Why? It's not because I have a bad personality or am ugly. I've put on more than a pound or two over the years due to depression and self loathing but I still look fairly handsome and I've been told I look quite striking when I've been thinner. I also have a fairly awesome personality as attested to by the few friends I have. I get along with everyone just about and have a great sense of humour. No the issue is life long social anxiety, depression etc...

Anyway what am I looking for? Well assuming that I could actually find someone? All of the above as others have said. In the short term I would be lying if sex wasn't near the top of my list, 31 years without romantic companionship makes one long for it. And porn isn't a good substitute. But in the longer run I want a life companion. Not necessarily marriage and I'm really not interested in children but more than a FWB. I want someone I can truly share my interests with, tell stories to, talk about the news, current events, debate with, just have fun with.

But anyway that's all wishful thinking at this point.
