The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHaving some chili in a bread bowl, and a nice Belgian ale. Wanna hang out?
Anybody?
Had a 'blah' day in clinic today. Nothing either bad or good. Just a day. Some company might be nice...
to all my Lounge peeps!

(149,588 posts)Hey, I'll hang out for a bit!
My dinner's still cooking, all of it, in the oven. I love it when I can do that.
All I have to do is set the table!
I've had a busy day with yet another doctor...my thyroid is messed up, and he doesn't know what's wrong. So I got some blood drawn, and next week I'll have a thyroid ultrasound, and an uptake and scan the next day!
He's trying to expedite things so we can figure it out before I'm gone on vacation.

(66,316 posts)That can't be any fun. And I don't envy your doctor his task. The thyroid gland can be tricky, and juggling all of the hormones involved is complex. I'm happy when it's a simple case of hypothyroidism. Give them some levothyroxine, and have them come for a visit every 12 weeks or so.
Where are you going for vacation?

(149,588 posts)It's not every day, or all day...
I do have time to be here with all you cool folks...
We're going to ITALY! Rome and Tuscany!
First time there, and I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm a nut on Ancient Rome. To be able to go there, and see the ruins. Visit the Forum, and the Colosseum...

(149,588 posts)One of our favorite authors is Steven Saylor; he wrote a bunch of mysteries set in ancient Rome, which we devoured.
We will be visiting many ancient places, and trust me, there will be MANY pictures!

(66,316 posts)I used to like Lindsey Davis's Marcus Didius Falco mysteries better, but then they got a little boring.
Glad to hear you're a fan. Bearing in mind the expense of doing it, I would love for a TV series to be made from either set of mysteries. Falco has been turned into a BBC Radio program a couple of times, at least.

(23,272 posts)Dinner's long done here in IL so I'm sipping the last of my chardonnay and listening to the crickets and frogs on the porch. There are still a couple of riders in the arenas so I can hear "good boy!" and the whoof whoof of a cantering horse in the far background.
My husband installed Christmas icicle lights at ceiling height all around the porch so the glow is soft and all of the barn cats have been tempted inside to snuggle on the various chairs and daybed. Its a quiet and peaceful night here on the farm. No emergencies. My wild daughter is sober, home, and up in her room doing homework so sweet relief tonight (we take this one day at a time... ).
Peace Aristus!

Cal Sagan had been a hero of mine from an early age. I miss him. He helped make science fun and interesting.
