This a.m. I woke up knowing it was time to go to the ER.

Due to several factors, I'm prone to infections & abscesses. Two days ago a rather painful abscess appeared in a sensitive location. Yesterday I was too sick to get out of bed. Today I felt good enough to go to the ER where I spent 4 hours on IV antibiotics & saline. The surgeon will see me in 3 days to decide if surgical drainage is necessary. Given its proximity to a rather indispensable appendage, I hope he won't be too knife-happy...

The surgeon probably wants to lance it, drain it, and pack it with about 5 miles of gauze ribbon.
