it's french:
Il' Pleure Dans Mon Coeur
Comme Il Pleut La Ville
the google translator tells me it means:
it cry in my heart
as it rains city
i suspect this is not correct as it was inscribed on a gravestone.

(130,895 posts)ALWAYS good to relearn that my studies of French AND poetry have value!
but I've unearthed my COLLEGE 'text book,' Nineteenth Century French Verse,' which contains my margin notes, so ask me 'ANYTHING!'

He cries in my heart
He cries in my heart
As it rains on the city;
What is this languor
That penetrates my heart?
O sweet sound of rain
The ground and on the roofs!
For a heart in pain,
Oh the song of the rain!
He cries for no reason
In this heart that sickens.
What! no treason? ...
This mourning is no reason.
This is the worst pain
Why do
Without love and hate
My heart has so much pain!

(54,372 posts)If you want to get poetic, you could translate it as "My heart shed tears like the rain that falls on the town."
It's not literal, but probably close to what was meant.
il pleut it rains
je pleure I cry
Si on parle vite, on n'entend à peine la différence.
