too bad it's not really affordable (or advisable, vis a vis world population) any more.

My mom always said you get one really good baby. That wasn't me. She said she almost didn't have any more because I was such a handful.

Hands down the most unique experience of my life. Painful, yes, but different. My body knew what to do and it felt purposeful like no other time.

And when it was over I had a brand new person! Did it twice. Different each time but amazing.

to deliver early for all three of mine.

They were 6 lb 3 oz, 5 lb 9 oz, and 4 lb 13 oz.

Small, but still big enough to cause a few moans and groans.

I can't even imagine what it must feel like to give birth to a baby over 7 lbs

that exact same phrase when I was born, also.

One of her favorite gruesome stories involves how she was so out of it after I was born that she gave another mighty push and shot the afterbirth right into the attending doctor.

that a woman on a gurney that was heading into the delivery room was heard shouting to her husband, "YOU'RE GETTING A VASECTOMY!"

we had that conversation.

I just wish the guy had had warm hands. But, I could hardly complain, could I?

(wife has cerebral palsy; it could be done, but would have been a huge concern for both of us; and her mother was absolutely good with that, because she was worried about that chance).

Part of the reason why was because the version that the guys have to go through is much simpler.

(Plus, I was pretty sure I wouldn't do well kids).

4'11" tall, we called her "little gramma" My dad was 10 lbs at birth and was born breach. He had several younger siblings. I am always amazed by this because my dad is 85 years old and I think of the lack of medical awareness back then.
