(58,237 posts)THX 1138 is masterful in everyway SCI FI can be and shot for next to nothing .

(58,237 posts)("The Trouble With Tribbles" is my favorite Star Trek episode, if that gives you an idea) but Call Me Wesley knows what I like and his recommendation of THX 1138 put me on the path.
El Fuego
(6,502 posts)I read it over and over and over when I was a teenager.
(For the non-geeks: David Gerrold wrote the Trouble with Tribbles episode, and the book was about how he came to write it.)

(58,237 posts)My mom is just barely on the sane side of hardcore Trekkiedom (i.e., she does not [yet] attend Star Trek conventions in costume) and we are now in the process of indoctrinating our nine-year-old nephew to science fiction and comic books.

(53,339 posts)I saw that with all of my friends for my 12th bithday party. Everything was double features back then, but I have no memory of what the other movie was. I guess it just couldn't compare to the brilliance of 'Fiend'.

(2,289 posts)I know it is not a masterpiece in any form but I just liked it. One of my favorite movies.
How can anyone not like a movie that is constantly needing 'Bigger Guns' ?

(46,703 posts)I would go for downloading them from the net. Might try net flix if someone tells me I can find some of these on that site.

(2,289 posts)I've never found one at a reasonable price, assuming they have it. Somebody on Amazon is trying to sell a copy for just under 1000.00 if you can believe it.
The other day I thought of those places that will make copies of out of print movies and found it for 15.00. Being that it is my b-day this week, I splurged. I just hope I didn't get cheated.

(34,136 posts)At least I sat in the room while the movie was on the TV. I know I watched it and I'm pretty sure I didn't fall asleep during it. But I cannot remember one image, scene, or actor from the entire movie. I'm really glad I didn't pay money for it.

(12,008 posts)"Serenity" I found to be simply unwatchable. I mean, it wasn't just bad, but so terrible that I wouldn't want it on in the background while posting on DU bad.
"Dark City" is really interesting and entertaining, but the ending is terrible. It spoils the entire thing. I was really kind of pissed off with it after an otherwise good movie.
I either haven't seen or don't remember the others, but if these two are anything to go by, I don't know why I'd watch them.

(49,988 posts)I just watched it again a couple months ago. Meh.

(63,208 posts)It's not so much "under rated" as "undeserving of praise."
Dull, plodding and ponderous.
And for that matter, Primer is also pretty awful.
