Toothless wonder

.
.
.

that be me.

had the last (ugly, rotting) teeth removed last week.

already have an upper plate, the remaining were in the bottom gum - out of seven -

5 were not exposed - only 2 "above ground" so to speak.

yah - pretty uncomfortable.

be 3-4 months to get a flexible plate/bridge for the bottom, then my face will look normal again, and I can chew food.

and SMILE!!

I really never stopped smiling, but was quite self-conscious about it - especially knowing how unattractive my mouth looked - my mirror told me so . . .

My mouth looks better without them ugly teeth in there,

But will sure look much better when I got teeth in there . .

One step at a time . .

right?

Tried to wean myself off the percs - used ibuprofen and a topical anbesol

I already knew the ibuprofen (advil) would give me a dirty stomach/mouth taste feeling -

But it was worse than I remembered, could not eat, and had a constant headache.

Just started the percs around 6:30pm, 2-1/2 hours ago.

headache almost gone ( I NEVER get headaches normally) - stomach and mouth almost feel normal.

pain is already coming back, but not supposed to take any more percs for another 1-1/2 hours according to the script - and supply is running short.

Previous experience with our local hospital leads me to believe they will not renew the script -

one "doctor" went so far as to say after a previous pain issue - "no pain, no gain"

I literally shit myself numerous times as a result of the following pain issues.

tomorrow I WILL visit my local hospital and see what their response will be this time.

not optimistic of the outcome

(sigh)

p.s.:

One thing to be happy about I suppose -

those were the LAST of my teeth

I will not have to suffer like this again.

as in welfare, disability, old age pension or other financial distress.

Even if you are in financial need, transportation is only partially paid, and awkward to get.

that was not my case,

cost $1900 and transportation was my dime also.

Meds would have been covered also under financial distress/assistance - so with meds, transportation etc.,

cost was over $2,000

and it STILL hurts!

I just got what was left of my upper teeth removed (most were either broken or otherwise messed up) and a full plate put in. Next I get a partial on the bottom. I am already smiling again as I have been trying not to do that for a long time now. Eating though is another story. Really hope that gets easier. But like you say - one step at a time.

Sorry you have so much pain. Must be because they were not exposed and they had to dig them out or something. Whenever I had teeth pulled, vitamin C speeded up the healing.

is that eating leaves some food in the holes left by the extractions.

The slightest bit (especially toast or meat) of food in the remaining holes ferments/rots, whatever and cannot be removed until my body decomposes it.

I did not have the same problem with the upper teeth years ago - I suspect gravity has something to do with it.

will be in a better frame of mind soon, but heaven help the person that gets "in my face" in the near future.

My patience and tolerance are at a new low.

And that ain't me . .

the lowers are more difficult all the way around. I know what you mean about the tolerance and patience - dealing with the frustration of all this doesn't leave much room for things like tolerance.

I am still on cream of wheat and yogurt at a week. Hope this isn't like this forever.

Are you doing the thing where you drink warm water (or warm salt water), keep it in your mouth and shake your head back and forth to try to dislodge the particles?

When I filled the scrip, asked the pharmacist for a mouthwash suitable for that - sort of expensive, but concern for my health made it a no-brainer.

It is a non-alcohol based wash, and has a squirt nozzle - I use it after eating, and any other time I feel a collection in the holes.

Also, I pour Acidophilus powder in the lower gum (Acidophilus is a probiotic). I buy only Acid(my own short-form) in capsules, and requires refrigeration. The powder has an amazing benefit when poured out of the capsule to almost immediately cure sore throats, and upset stomachs due to food rich in spices.

But shaking my head is pretty much out of the question - still have a nagging headache, very unusual for me and do not want to encourage it.

Extractions were Friday, and scrip is running low, so going to the hospital to see if I can get more perks, and see if there is an allowable increase in dosage. I know that from taking the recommended dosage is not enough to keep the pain at a livable level.

If I cannot get more perks, I will just have to suffer.

Dental pain has got to be the worst.

But I did not expect so much pain

Even with the percocets, now taking one every 3 hours instead of 4, the pain is incredible.

Keeping busy? No choice - cannot sleep - my place is as clean as it's ever been!

If it wasn't so cool outside, (only 5 degrees Celsius) I'd be outside doing chores.

Drinking juice instead of beer (that's a first) even though the beer seemed to help with the pain.

Perks get me feeling buzzy, I do not like that, and beer makes it worse.

And my drywall screws are already sorted.

Appreciate your input.

35 years since I became toothless also, except that I had immediate dentures put in.

I had 11 of my own teeth left (after having them pulled individually or 2 or 3 at a time over the years) and finally the dentist said, "That's enough" and convinced me to have the rest pulled at once.

The immediate dentures formed a barrier to food particles. First day they were very painful on my gums and Tylenol w/codeine was my best friend.

Day after was better, and two weeks later I was eating corn on the cob.

Like you, I had horrible pain from decaying teeth. Now I don't ever have to suffer again from a toothache, although gum sores can be a bit painful but nowhere near a toothache.

I hope your gums heal quickly and you get a new smile. Something good to look forward to.

Having been poor for so long, I am still frugal in many areas.

No teeth anymore, but I need a huge intake of food to maintain my weight, always been that way.

so - am just about finished preparing my meal from leftovers, barbecued steak, chicken, baked potatoes, veggies etc.,

BLENDER!!

Making baby-food - got no teef, remember?

I do not get the enjoyment of chewing, but I get the nutrition.

Always had a problem maintaining my weight - why do I keep getting spam telling me how to LOSE it.

Go figure.
