Got new glasses and something was off. Made me feel drunk walking with them or turning my head with stuff distorted on the edges. They were also really blurry on the edges. Decided to send them back. Anyone else have this problem and did you get it solved? First time this has ever happened to me in 25 years.
By the way, the girl at Costco argued with me saying it was normal for them to be blurry on the edges. I then looked through my old ones and they were crystal clear. My prescription hardly changed at all.
I did find this article but it's surprising how little there is on the net about this kind of problem: http://netwellness.uc.edu/question.cfm/55391.htm

(5,946 posts)It is weird, it is only in the left corner - the eye doctor said that it was the beginning of a cataract in that eye, so I don't know, eventually I gave up. Next time I will go back to my old eye doctor and stop trying to save money. My old glasses are not strong enough any more, so can't go back.

(7,515 posts)So I had problems negotiating curbs and stairs! The new lenses had corrected for astigmatism. Made me crazy and I had them changed. Contacts lenses did the same thing when they tried to correct for astigmatism. I just saw the eye doctor last week, he made no mention of astigmatism and my new bifocal contact lenses are fantastic!
I am convinced doctors only know half of what they pretend to know.

(54,770 posts)it really impacts my balance. You do often adjust, but they might have messed up or even used low tech lenses. Good to send them back.
Bifocals really suck. Good luck.

(28,929 posts)but these were making me insane. If they are not better I am going to try a different place. If that doesn't work then maybe the Dr. got my prescription wrong.

Went back to single focus lenses just recently.
I went to a regular trained eye-doctor (optometrist) pricey (almost $300 for testing, lenses and frames) - but well worth it.
Problem solved.

(41,959 posts)The new ones are WAY better. Mind you, I wear progressive bifocals and the new are bigger, giving me more space for each progression, but they're also considerably higher quality. I was dizzy when I looked down for a few days but my brain has adjusted.
I fear I'll never have perfect vision again but it's waaaaay better.

(12,008 posts)Once it bothered me so much that I returned the glasses, even though it was probably just my fault not taking the time to adjust. With my latest glasses, it took a few days to adjust, with the ones before, it took forever.
I will say, of course everything seems "normal" with your old glasses, because that's what you're used to. I'll bet that some things are probably better/clearer with the new ones though, right?

(21,046 posts)I got some new glasses last week. I'm very nearsighted so I think it's because the lenses might seem like a fisheye lens? They are thick on the edges which is the opposite of a fisheye..?

(11,785 posts)On two of the occasions, I'd ordered progressive lenses and the optician sold me frames where the middle corridor wasn't tall enough. It was only off by 1-2mm, but that was enough to make a difference. The third time, there was some boofoo at the factory when polishing the lenses. When I held them up to the light at an angle, I could see a wavy pattern in one lens much like windshield wiper marks.

(1 post)Oddly enough I've been getting my glasses thru Costco for years now and have never had a problem. This year because I didn't love any of their frames, I went to a private optometrist fir my exam and glasses. I paid quadruple the price and my glasses and contacts are worthless. Not only do my glasses make me feel like I'm falling/ the ground I'd going to hit my face, but they make me extremely nauseated. I have NEVER experienced this before! I've gone back several times and they've remade my glasses. They now want me to try them for the weekend and say that I'll get used to them. I can't even keep them on for 5 minutes without wanting to hug the bowl. I don't understand what could be wrong, I've worn progressives for over 10 years! My contacts are multi focal and he says they're blurry because my oil ducts are clogged! Ughhhh ....... I wish that I didn't need to depend on anything in order to see 😞
