Whenever I have been in a hospital, I start to get almost dizzy and lightheaded because I start imagining all the things that people are dealing with. I wonder about the people in the elevators and the cafeterias -- why are they there? Are they visiting? Are they sick themselves? Does the person in question have something minor, chronic, or terminal? The heaviness of it all really gets me, even though for the most part people are just sort of carrying on. It's a lot of tragedy and drama (and some happiness, like on the ob/gyn ward) all in one place.
