I have a book about the history of Muzak that's fascinating .There was so much fear about elevators at first that they thought music would be soothing ---------little did they know .

Lou Reed would make the trip enjoyable provided it wasn't a cover version done by the 101 Strings Orchestra or some such rot. The music that makes me, personally, want to kill myself is the stuff that's nearly Muzak to begin with yet they felt even it was too upbeat in its original state so they Muzaked it out. Think Seals & Crofts or Ambrosia.

BTW, have you ever seen the SNL skit where Paul Simon is stuck in an elevator having to listen to his own songs in Muzak with the Devil (Jon Lovitz)? "So, when do we get to hell?" And Lovitz answers: "Get there? This is it!" LOL.
