Have you ever had an out of body experience?

I had several from childhood on...but the last one happened in over 20 years ago.

For me the experience confirmed that there is a non-physical part of me that continues beyond the physical body.

I also don't feel religion is necessary. Although, if a person is religious, that is ok also...as most religions try to teach their followers to be good beings.

If you have had one, did it change how you feel about death and spirituality?

Peace

Is this the goal for those that go there...or is it more of a meditative venue? Is it open to the public or is it private?

Do they have web page? Link?

If I was closer ...I would check it out.

I have no qualms linking to their site...

It looks amazing! The only thing I can say that I have experienced that is remotely close to this was camping out on a pristine lake in the Upper Peninsula on hot summer night. The lake had no camps or homes on it.... the water was warm and my brother and I decided to take a dip in the lake at about 2:00 am in the morning. The only sound was the wind and some frogs... as we floated effortlessly looking at the stars on this very dark moonless night. It was pretty special looking at the Milky Way and the millions of stars above us.

Thanks for the information.

I used to remove the dextromethorphan hydrobromide out of cough syrup through a series of steps--

And then. . .boy, would I be out of body. It was quite something. Completely a dissociative experience. I once had the same thoughts as my (now) wife at the same time under this stuff.
I now consider this a coincidence-of course. It is the most amazing shit on earth---but I would not do it now and would not recommend it.
I feel this "out of body" experience(s) was/were good for me, but I wonder about the long-term consequences. Go and read about it-just don't do it(I think)

I have read of Shamans using various drugs to leave their bodies... sometimes entering an animal.

So I know that some types of drugs could have that effect.

All of mine were spontaneous and usually happened when I woke up from a deep sleep ...only to look back and still see myself sleeping.

The last time was when my daughters were very young...one a toddler and the other a baby less than a year old. I always got up at night should they need a parent. I figured my wife went through hell giving birth to them the least I could do is let her sleep at night.

Also I really wanted to have a close bond with them so I figured this was the best way to achieve that.....anyway... I always slept with one ear open and would wake up with the slightest cry or whimper. One night I thought I heard a noise in their room and I jumped out of bed and went to their room to check on them. I was a bit puzzled as they were both sound asleep. I then looked down at the floor and saw I was floating.... I thought to myself .... "I am out!" and thought to immediately fly outside.... I hit the ceiling and immediately I was back in my body .... and very disappointed that I was back.

I never had another instance....

Just for the record I have several Brothers and Sisters and some of them have had the experience. In fact one Brother has met other people who told him "It was about time he showed up!"...lol

I got a body high off it but didn't have any hallucinations or the like. Mind you I didn't drink it all at once but over a couple of hours, cause I was worried about what it would do to me if I gulped it down in one go.

body high-slight visuals-intense hallucinations, seeing music, deep introspection and dismantling of the self(I made that up, but it is a good description) and other cool things. Too much equals a couple of days worth of paranoia to differing degrees. Cool, but not worth it.

I was taking a yoga class at the local high school. After the exercises the instructor would go through a relaxation/meditation routine.
Each class was more intense than the previous and so were her meditation presentations. One night I felt my conscious mind divorce itself from my body, I was looking down on myself, then the rest of the class. To be honest, I didn't care for the experience one bit. My eyes flew open, I sat up and looked around the room. The instructor knew exactly what had happened to me. She spoke to me after class, but I never went back. I am a bit of a control freak...I don't wish to control anyone else, but I need to have control over myself. The feeling that I was no longer in control was not one I wanted to repeat.

I once attended the Sunday services of a group who followed "Elizabeth Clare Prophet".

They would play Eastern Indian meditative music with chants. They spoke of a "spiral" that lead to a violet flame....

One Sunday... I ended up seeing that spiral.... and entering a (for lack of a better word) different dimension. I understood exactly what all these people were referring too although I don't feel any of them really had experienced what I had as they were kinda dumbfounded when I told them of what had happened.

The dimension was an endless void of pure violet. I look back now and I wonder if it was one of my "chakras" ... who knows.. an exceptional experience for me. Never had anything like it before or since.

Again...thanks for sharing your experience.

She had Morphin's (sp?) Syndrome and had 5 open heart operations. She said that she remembers looking down at her body on the operation table with the doctor working on her. Next thing she remembered is the doctor calling her name. I don't think it was her time to go then, but she died last year as her heart finally gave out. She was only 35 years old. I am an atheist, but her story really had me wondering.

Did she possibly have Marfan's Syndrome? People who are affected with Marfan's have numerous heart problems. It also affects connective tissue.

Your poor friend had a very difficult disease...so sorry.

My condolences for the loss of your friend.

Near death experiences are quite common and have read a couple of books about people who have had them. Although you don't have to have be near death to experience being out of your body as you have read with the experiences some have had posted in this thread.

Did she share any other information she may have been privy too while having her experience or did she just remember seeing herself from above?

I would recommend reading up on NDEs.... there are some very good books out there that have documented countless examples of people and their experiences with this phenomenon.

Thanks for sharing.

grepaflorafloxaxine or something was the main one...anyway, the main thing I noticed was that most of the time I felt completely disconnected with my body, like I was floating above it. Especially weird when I was walking - it felt like I was way up there just floating along, looking down. And when I had to talk (I couldn't take any days off work) it was like having to reach down and making the mouth move and sounds came out at a distance. It was interesting.

It went away 4 hours or so after my last dose. Takeaway lesson? The mind has a function that provides you with a feeling of position in space. Chemicals can mess with that, as well as other things, and make it feel like you are floating above your own body. Weird, but there's plenty of weird mind tricks.

Another one I used to do when I was working on meditation in my teens - when I'd work on creating the feeling of turning upside-down (a bit like the "falling" feeling), while just sitting still. I could do it sometimes, and it was like wiggling your ears - just had to relax and poke around in there to find just the right thing to flex.

.

.

I had a recurring dream years ago where I would be on the ground, but could "fly"

not like superman, but "think" myself above the ground,

and for some reason always narrowly missing hydro wires.

But I "knew" I was still on the ground.

I KNEW it was a dream - or "not normal" and that I would "wake up" disappointed that it ended.

It was always located near my yard in my hometown.

Haven't had that sensation/vision/dream/experience for almost a decade.

but it happened for about 3 decades in a row previously.

weird, it never frightened me though.
